Overview of CVD Instance Specifications

The specifications of a Cloud Virtual Desktop (CVD) instance include computing resources (vCPU and memory) and storage resources (system disk and data disk). Their combination determines the CPU, memory, GPU, system disk, and data disk configurations of the CVD instance. Different instance types provide different computing capabilities, making them suitable for various CVD business scenarios.

Note:
Computing resources of CVD instances will be continuously planned and added.

Storage Resources

The storage resources for a CVD instance consist of the system disk and the data disk, each backed by a cloud disk. You can choose between Cloud SSD or Premium Disk. Select the disk size based on your requirements.
Category
Description
System disk
It is similar to the C drive in Windows systems. The system disk contains a full copy of the image used to launch the instance, as well as the running environment. When the instance is launched, the size of the system disk must be larger than that of the image used for launch.
Data disk
It is similar to the D drive in Windows systems. The data disk stores user data.

CVD Images

An image is a template containing the software configuration (such as the operating system and pre-installed programs) for a CVD instance. Tencent Cloud images provide all the information required to launch CVD instances. Users need an image to start an instance. One image can be used to launch multiple instances repeatedly. An image is essentially the installation disk for a cloud server.
Tencent Cloud provides the following types of images:
Category
Description
Public image
Available to all users, providing a pre-configured CVD operating system.
Custom image
Dedicated CVD images can be created, enabling administrators to implement batch purchase operations based on specific requirements.

Access Portal

The access portal for CVD is a browser-based secure portal. End users receive a link through email or SMS. After completing login authentication, they can access the CVD resources assigned by the administrator.

CVD Policies

A CVD policy is a set of security rules that define configurations such as file redirection, peripheral redirection, clipboard read/write permissions, and watermarks. It is used to uniformly control the access permissions of end users when they use a CVD instance.
