What Is NAT Gateway?
NAT Gateway is an IP address translation service that provides network address translation capabilities, including SNAT (Source Network Address Translation) and DNAT (Destination Network Address Translation). It offers secure, high-performance Internet access services for resources within VPC (Virtual Private Cloud). NAT Gateway is divided into public NAT Gateway and private NAT Gateway. The public NAT Gateway provides public network address translation service, while the private NAT Gateway provides private network address translation service.
Typical application scenarios of NAT Gateway are as follows:
Large bandwidth, high availability public network egress services, such as web crawling and accessing public internet services.
Secure public network egress services, for example: the CVM needs to communicate with the public network, but for security reasons, you do not want the CVM to be bound to a public IP address.
NAT Gateway in CDC Environments Has the Following Characteristics
The creation entry is the CDC independent entry and must be created in the CDC console. For details, see Creating a NAT Gateway. When a NAT Gateway is created, if you choose to deploy it in Tencent Cloud CDC, the IP addresses supported by the NAT instance will be automatically allocated from the CDC's dedicated IP address pool. The NAT Gateway can only be bound to CVM within this CDC and cannot be bound to servers in other subnets.
