From an old edition to the current edition (KV separation not enabled)
Smooth upgrade
No additional operations required
From an old edition to the current edition and then enabling KV separation
Supported
Triggers the data_format_version upgrade immediately upon enabling.
From a state with KV separation enabled to downgrading to an old edition
Not supported.
The data_format_version cannot be downgraded.
Enabling and then disabling (within the same edition)
Supported
After disabling, new data separation stops, while existing Blob files remain readable.
