Scenario

You can create an instance of Cloud Virtual Machine on the purchased dedicated host machine through the console or API.

Prerequisites

Before Assign and CVM on the dedicated host machine, you need to choose to complete the following tasks according to the actual situation:

  • To create a CVM instance with a network type of VPC (VPC), you need to use the target region [ Create VPC], and the target availability zone under VPC [ Add a subnet].
  • When you do not use the default project created automatically by the system, you need to [ Create Project].
  • When you do not use the default security group created automatically by the system, you need to use the target region [ Create a security group] and add security group rules that meet your business needs.
    Create SSH Key
To create a CVM instance with custom image, you need to Create Custom Image Or Import Image .

Considerations

The number of CVM that can be created on dedicated hosts depends on the remaining available CPU, memory, local resources and CVM's specifications.
For example: a completely idle HS20 (56 cores, 224 gigabytes of memory) can Assign 7 8-core 32-gigabyte CVM.

Directions

Use the console to create CVM

Enter the page of CVM Assign

  1. Log in to the CVM Console .
  2. On the "dedicated Host" management page, select the appropriate region, check the dedicated host, and click [Assign Cloud Virtual Machine].

3. Select CVM configurations (e.g. CPU and memory)

  1. In "1. Select region and Model page, select region and Model. as shown below:

Main parameters include:

  • CPU: customizes CVM's CPU based on the remaining resources of the selected host / host resource pool.
  • Memory: customize CVM's memory configuration according to the remaining resources of the selected host / host resource pool.
The configurations determine the number of CVMs that can be created.
  1. Click Next: Select an Image .

Selecting an Image

  1. In "2. Select Image page, select Image. as shown below:

Main parameters include:

  • Image supplier: according to different sources, Tencent Cloud provides public Image, Custom image, shared Image and marketplace Image. For more information about the types of Image, please refer to An introduction to the types of Image .
  • Operating System : To be selected based on your requirements.
  • System version: choose according to the actual needs.
  1. Click Next: Select Storage and Bandwidth .

Select storage and network

  1. On the Select Storage and Network page, select the system disk and data disk, and set the network information. as shown below:

Main parameters include:

  • System disk: required. The default capacity is 50GB, which is used to install the operating system. You can select the type and capacity of the cloud disk used by the system disk. Different regions will affect the types of cloud disks available.
  • Data disk: optional. You can choose to add a data disk after creating an instance; you can add a data disk at the time of purchase, and select the cloud disk type and capacity of the data disk; you can also create an empty data disk or use a data disk snapshot to create a data disk.
Storage class supported by CVM are: local hard disk / local SSD hard disk, HDD cloud disk, efficient HDD cloud disk, SSD. For more information about HDD cloud disk, please refer to HDD cloud disk classification .
    Network type
    • Basic network: the new Activate region will no longer support the basic network for all users from August 3, 2017, and some of the newly registered accounts after June 13, 2017 will no longer support the basic network.
    • VPC: VPC and subnet must be selected. If the VPC and subnet are not created in advance, you can choose the default VPC and subnet. For more information on basic network and VPC, please refer to An overview of VPC .
    • The CVM network on the public network IP: dedicated host only supports Bill-by-traffic. If you need a public network IP address for CVM and Assign, please select Purchase Now . In this way, the IP address of Assign cannot be directly related to the instance Unbind, but the public network IP can be converted into an elastic public network IP and then Unbind.
    • Public network bandwidth: configured according to actual needs.
    • Number of servers: set according to actual needs.
  1. Click [next: set Information].

Setting Information

  1. In "4. On the Settings Information page, set the project, hostname, login method, and security group. as shown below:

Main parameters include:

  • Instance name:

    • Select [name after creation], and the name of Cloud Virtual Machine after creation is "Not named". The name is only displayed on the console, not Cloud Virtual Machine's hostname.
    • Select [name now], which requires the semantic name of Enter, which is limited to 60 characters.
  • Login Method:
Login method: For CVMs with Linux images, you can choose Set Password , Associate with Key Immediately , and Automatically Generated Password As the login method.
For CVMs with Windows images, you can choose Set Password And Automatically Generated Password As the login method.

  • Security Group:

    • If you have not created a security group yourself, you can select [Create Security Group].
    • If you already have a security group, select [existing security group].

At the same time, you can preview security group rules. For an introduction to security group rules, please refer to Security Group .

  • Security reinforcement: free Enable DDoS protection, WAF and Host Security host protection. For more information, please refer to CVM Security .

  • Cloud Monitor: free Enable Tencent Cloud services monitoring. Install components to obtain host monitoring Metric and display it in the form of monitoring icon, and support setting custom alarm threshold, etc. For more information, please refer to Overview of Cloud Monitoring .

  1. Click "Buy now" to complete the creation.
After the CVM is created, the user will get an internal message containing such information as instance name, Public IP address, Private IP address, login name, and initial login password (if you choose the method of automatically generated password). You may use the information to log in to and manage instances.

Create CVM with API

Use the RunInstances API to create CVM on a specified dedicated host machine.
