When the performance of a read-only analytical instance cannot meet business changes, or when excess instance performance necessitates cost savings, you can modify the instance's compute specifications (CPU and memory) and disk size by adjusting its configuration.

Background Information

In TDSQL Boundless, compute and storage are not separated for read-only analytical instances. Therefore, scenarios involving cross-server configuration changes may occur during resource scaling or disk downsizing. When an instance undergoes a configuration change, a new node with the updated specifications is automatically provisioned. After data sync is complete on the new node, access route switching between the new and old nodes is performed automatically, finalizing the configuration change operation.

Prerequisites

Before a configuration adjustment is performed, confirm that the instance meets the following conditions:
The instance status is running.
The instance currently has no in-progress tasks such as configuration changes, horizontal scaling, parameter modifications, or primary/secondary switchovers.

Limitations

Adjusting the configuration will cause a brief service interruption. The actual impact duration depends on the data volume. Perform this operation during off-peak hours and ensure that the client is configured for automatic reconnection.

Steps

1. Log in to the TDSQL Boundless console. The system provides three entry points to go to the Adjust Instance Configuration page.
Entry 1
Entry 2
Entry Point 3
On the Instance List page, locate the target instance. In the Operation column, click Adjust Configurations > Adjust Configurations.

On the Instance List page, locate the target instance and click its Instance ID. On the Instance Details page, click Adjust Configurations > Adjust Configurations in the upper-right corner.

Navigate to the Instance Details page. In the Specs Configuration section, locate the Specification row and click Adjust Configurations on the right.

2. On the Adjust Configuration page, adjust the instance specification and disk size as needed. After confirming the cost, click Submit.

FAQs

How Long Does It Take to Adjust Configurations?

The duration depends on the configuration change mode and the data volume. In-place configuration changes are typically completed within minutes. For rapid and regular configuration changes, data sync is required. The larger the data volume, the longer the operation takes. It is recommended that you perform these operations during off-peak hours.

Can I Cancel the Configuration Adjustment Process?

Once a configuration change task is submitted, it cannot be actively canceled. Confirm the target specification before submission.

Does Configuration Adjustment Support Downgrading?

Yes. You can downgrade the CPU, memory, and disk size, provided that the target specification can still accommodate the existing data. When the disk is downgraded, the used space must not exceed the target capacity.
