To fully leverage ISS, you need to understand some related basic concepts and terms.

Regions

A region refers to a region where Tencent Cloud hosted data centers locate. It contains multiple availability zones (AZ).
For example, the region of a hosted data center is Beijing, with its AZ as Beijing Zone 1. Cloud services in the same region can interconnect through the private network, while private network communication is not available between different regions. Choose the region closest to your customers to reduce the access latency and improve the download speed.

APPID

APPID is one of the account identifiers of a Tencent Cloud account, used to associate cloud resources. After a user successfully applies for a Tencent Cloud account, the system automatically assigns an APPID to the user. You can view the APPID through Tencent Cloud Console > Account Information.

Organization

A device organization is a logical tree for mounting devices. You can build a device organization tree based on your actual business structure (such as region, store, or floor) to manage devices in groups. Features such as live streaming and recording playback are all organized around device organizations.

Device

A device refers to a terminal that is connected to ISS, including types such as IPC and NVR. Devices can be connected to the platform through protocols such as GB28181, RTMP, and ISUP, and each device can contain one or more video channels.

Channel

A channel is the basic unit through which a device provides video streams externally. An IPC typically corresponds to one channel, while an NVR can contain multiple channels based on the number of cameras mounted under it. A channel is the smallest granularity for the platform to perform operations such as live preview, cloud recording, and AI analysis, and each channel has a unique channel ID.

GB/T28181

GB/T28181 is a national standard networking protocol widely used in the video surveillance field in China. It defines unified signaling processes between video surveillance devices and platforms, such as registration, directory query, live streaming, and recording playback. After the server information assigned by the platform is configured on the device side, devices or platforms that support GB/T28181 can register and connect to ISS.

RTMP

RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) is a TCP-based streaming media transmission protocol widely used in live push streaming scenarios. A device or streaming media platform can complete access by pushing video streams to the RTMP push streaming address generated by the platform.

ISUP

ISUP is a device networking protocol launched by Hikvision (ISUP 5.0), suitable for Hikvision device access scenarios where GB28181 is inconvenient to use. When using ISUP for access, you need to configure the key assigned by the platform on the device side to complete registration.

IPC

IPC (IP Camera) is a network camera, which is a standalone camera device with built-in video capture, encoding, and network transmission capabilities. After an IPC is connected to the platform, its lens typically corresponds to one video channel.

NVR

NVR (Network Video Recorder) is a network video recorder used to aggregate and manage multiple cameras. An NVR device can contain multiple video channels, which can be managed centrally after being connected to the platform.

Playback Domain

The stream playback domain is used to play device video streams. You need to configure the stream playback domain and complete the ICP filing in advance. After configuration, the platform will generate corresponding playback addresses for video channels, which can be used for live streaming, recording playback, and customer application integration.

Push Domain

The push streaming domain is used to receive video streams pushed by devices. Devices connected via RTMP must push video streams to the push streaming address generated under the push streaming domain, so that the platform can receive and process the video streams.

Set the callback

A callback is a mechanism through which the platform proactively sends HTTP(S) notifications to a URL you specify after a specific event occurs. For example, in visual understanding, the platform pushes structured results to the callback address you configure after the analysis is completed, facilitating your subsequent processing in business systems.
