    What is Edge Zone?

Edge Zone is a local extension of the cloud platform and a new form of infrastructure deployment. Edge Zone allows you to provide an experience that is consistent with the central node at positions closer to users, offering them low-delay access.

What are the differences between Edge Zone and existing availability zones?

The existing availability zones are mainly deployed in super large cities and network convergence centers, while Edge Zone aims to provide cloud computing services closer to end users and local applications around the existing availability zones. Both the production field like smart IoT, industrial automation, and intelligent transportation, and the entertainment field like games, VR/AR, ultra-high-definition video, and live streaming have a high demand on the delay control of the cloud data center and the requirements for mass data transmission/processing. Edge Zone can help users effectively build their edge services and applications at a lower price.
For differences in user experience, see Operation Guide Overview.

What problems can Edge Zone solve?

Edge Zone can solve issues related to availability and latency of computing, storage, and services. By offering an experience that is consistent with central nodes at positions closer to users, Edge Zone supports business penetration and features low delay, broader coverage, and lower costs.
Edge Zone supports Direct Connect. Resources created in Edge Zone can be provided to local end users via communication methods with extremely low-delay.

What are the strengths of Edge Zone?

Edge Zone features elasticity and scalability, low latency for end users, consistent experience at the availability zones, and diverse configurations and features. For details, see Strengths.

What services are provided in Edge Zone?

Edge Zone supports core product capabilities such as Cloud Virtual Machine, Virtual Private Cloud, Cloud Load Balancer, and Containers, to achieve cloud-edge integration and deliver a consistent experience with central nodes.

What are the use cases supported by Edge Zone?

Edge Zone supports cases like game acceleration, Tencent Real-Time Communication, CDN origin-pull, etc. For details, see Use Cases.

    How to purchase Edge Zone?

Edge Zone is currently in the beta testing stage. If you need to use this product for your business scenario, please contact your business manager for application.

What are the requirements for applying for Edge Zone?

During the trial application review, whether your business scenario matches the product use cases will be an important assessing criterion. Please describe your business scenario and the reasons for applying this product in detail in the application.

Does Edge Zone support traditional accounts?

Edge Zone does not currently support traditional accounts and requires upgrading to a bill-by-IP account.

Does Edge Zone support API capabilities?

Yes. The APIs used by Edge Zone are consistent with those of the central node's availability zone. For example, when you create CVM resources, you only need to enter the Edge Zone ID into the Placement field to create resources in Edge Zone by using the RunInstances API.

    Does Edge Zone support CVM?

Yes. Edge Zone utilizes the same virtualization mechanism as those in the central cloud, supporting the virtualization of physical machine resources into virtual machines of various specifications. We can use the same APIs as the central cloud to create and manage these virtual machines.
    Edge instances can be created.

Does Edge Zone support Container VPC?

Yes. Edge Zone adopts the same deployment method as those in the central cloud, supporting the deployment of EKS and TKE services. Customers can create and manage container resources in Edge Zone through container products.

Does Edge Zone support Virtual Network?

Yes. Edge Zone uses the same network services as those in the central cloud. The methods for creating and managing VPCs and Subnets are the same, supporting communication between the central cloud and Edge Zone within the same virtual network.

    Does Edge Zone support CBS?

Yes. Edge Zone supports the deployment of the same CBS as those in the central cloud, and allows binding with Virtual Machines. Customers can use the block storage in Edge Zone for both system and data disks of VMs.

    Does Edge Zone support CFS?

Yes. Edge Zone supports the deployment of the same CFS service as those in the central cloud, which can be used in conjunction with various cloud product resources.

    Does Edge Zone support COS?

Yes. Edge Zone supports the deployment of the same COS and CSP service as those in the central cloud, which can be used in conjunction with various cloud product resources.

Does Edge Zone support various databases?

Yes. Edge Zone supports the deployment of the same types of database services as those in the central cloud, such as Mysql, Redis, TDSQL-C Mysql, and PostgreSQL, which can be used in conjunction with various cloud product resources.

What PaaS services does Edge Zone support?

In addition to supporting PaaS products like Containers and databases, Edge Zone also supports the deployment of the same CKafka and other PaaS services as those in the central cloud. Any service available in the central cloud can be supported after appropriate adaptation.

Can Edge Zone support all products of the central cloud?

Basically yes. The primary feature of Edge Zone is its homogeneity and isomorphism with Tencent Central Cloud. The control systems are consistent and all managed by the Central Region. Therefore, the product capabilities of Edge Zone can be aligned with those of the central cloud, sharing the same product capabilities, documentation, and API capabilities, which extend the product capabilities of the central cloud to edge IDC closer to the customers.

What hardware does Edge Zone support?

The services of Edge Zone are deployed on specified hardware from vendors included on the cloud platform's Vendor List, and the device configurations and specifications are strictly regulated and specified by the cloud platform.
