Dear Tencent Cloud user,
To improve troubleshooting efficiency for blocking events and deadlock events in production environments, and to enhance system observability and alerting capabilities, Tencent Cloud will update the default collection policies for blocking events and deadlock events in TencentDB for SQL Server. The details are announced as follows:
Updated Content and Effects
Updated content: The collection policies for blocking events and deadlock events in the console are updated from disabled by default to enabled by default; the default value of the associated parameter blocked process threshold is updated from 0 to 1 (a value of 1 indicates that collection is enabled, with a collection threshold of 1 second).
Update effects: After the update takes effect, existing instances will have collection of blocking events and deadlock events enabled synchronously, and new instances will automatically have collection of blocking events and deadlock events enabled by default. You can retain relevant on-site data without manual configuration, facilitating rapid identification of the SQL statements causing the issues.
Effective Time
Starting from September 28, 2026 (Beijing Time).
Impact Description
This adjustment involves only a change to the default policy and does not require instance restarts or cause business interruptions. It has no impact on the normal operation of the database.
Collection is performed in the system background with minimal overhead; generated event files are retained for 7 days by default before automatic cleanup, and will not occupy storage space long-term.
