Scene Overview

Data migration is the process of copying the source database to the target database. It aims at the complete relocation of the database and is a short-term, one-time task. After the migration is complete, users typically perform a manual cutover to switch the workload to the new database.
Examples of migration scenarios supported by Tencent Cloud DTS are as follows.
Scenario
Description
Migrate self-built databases to the cloud
Migrates self-built databases from on-premises IDC and CVM to Tencent Cloud.
Migrate from third-party cloud providers to Tencent Cloud
Migrates from other cloud providers (such as Alibaba Cloud, AWS) to Tencent Cloud.
Migrate Between TencentDB Instances
Database version upgrade, cross-region migration (including domestic and international cross-region), migration of database instances under different Tencent Cloud accounts, and so on.

Feature Overview

DTS supports access methods including "Public Network/Self-Build on CVM/DC/VPN Connection/Database/CCN/VPC". The available access methods vary depending on the deployment type of the database. Each access method requires specific network conditions. For details, see Network Preparation Overview.
IDC self-built databases/Databases from other cloud providers: The available access methods include Public Network/Direct Connect/VPN Access/CCN.
Self-built databases on CVM: Select Self-Build on CVM as the access method.
TencentDB instances: The access method can be set to Database.

MariaDB > TDSQL MySQL

For MariaDB > TDSQL MySQL (MariaDB) homogeneous migration, the target database version must be greater than or equal to the source database version. Currently, heterogeneous migration only supports MariaDB 10.1 > TDSQL MySQL (Percona 5.7).
