Expanding Cloud System Disks
To expand a system disk, the following three methods are provided.
Expanding Cloud Data Disks
To expand a data disk, the following three methods are provided.
Based on the attaching status of CBS data disks, you can expand their capacity by different methods.
If the current CBS data disk can be detached, you can expand its capacity in the CBS console or via the
ResizeDisk API.If the current CBS data disk cannot be detached, you can expand its capacity in the CVM console or via the
ResizeDisk API.Note
If the maximum capacity of the cloud disk cannot meet your business needs, try building up RAID groups or building LVM logical volumes with multiple elastic cloud disks.
Once the data disk capacity is expanded, you must perform the following operations for the instance to recognize and use the data disk:

| Disk capacity ≥ 2 TB | GPT partition format: extending partitions and file systems (Windows) or extending partitions and file systems (Linux) MBR partition format: not supported. MBR partition supports disk with a maximum capacity of 2 TB. When you partition disk with a capacity greater than 2 TB, we recommend that you create and attach a new data disk and use the GPT partition format to copy data. |
Billing Description
Expanded capacity fees will be charged after cloud disk expansion. For cloud disks in different billing modes:
Monthly subscribed cloud disks: To expand the capacity, you need to make up the price difference between new and old configurations for the rest of the lifecycle, subject to the details as displayed on the payment page.
Pay-as-you-go cloud disks: The adjustment takes effect immediately, and the cloud disks will be billed by the new configuration.
Billing rules for monthly subscribed cloud disks:
The price difference should be made up based on the number of days. Configuration upgrade fees = price difference for upgrade per month * number of months for upgrade * applicable discount.
Price difference for the upgrade per month: Unit price difference between the new and old configurations.
Number of months for upgrade: Upgrade fees are calculated by month based on the number of days.
Number of days for upgrade = resource expiration time - current time
Number of months for upgrade = number of days for upgrade / (365/12)
Applicable discount: The applicable discount is matched based on the number of months for upgrade as effective at the official website.
Note
This operation doesn't affect the resource expiration time.
This operation allows you to use vouchers and free credits for fees deduction.
Billing Examples

A user in the Guangzhou region, purchased a 200 GB general-purpose yearly/monthly subscription SSD cloud disk with a duration of 1 month as the data disk on May 1, 2022. The user expanded the disk capacity to 300 GB on May 5, 2022. The billing calculation is as follows:
Monthly upgrade price difference = 150 - 100 = 50 USD/month
Number of upgrade days = 27 days
Applicable discount = No discount
Total upgrade fee = 50 * (27/(365/12)) * 1 = 44.38 USD
