Operation Scope
This document describes in detail the fee calculation rules for Distributed Cache instances when their configurations are changed under both the pay-as-you-go and yearly/monthly subscription billing modes.
Pay-as-You-Go
|
Legacy specification settlement | After the configuration is changed, the billing system immediately settles the fees for the old specifications. Billing rules: Billing is based on the actual usage duration, and any portion less than one hour is calculated as one hour. Settlement price: Determined based on the pricing tier corresponding to the actual usage duration of the old specification. For specific billing prices, see Product Pricing. If the duration is greater than 0 days and less than or equal to 4 days, the first-tier pay-as-you-go pricing applies. If the duration is greater than 4 days and less than or equal to 15 days, the second-tier pay-as-you-go pricing applies. If the duration is greater than 15 days, the third-tier pay-as-you-go pricing applies. |
Rebilling at new specification | After the configuration is changed, the billing system restarts billing from the time of change and immediately starts billing based on the new specifications. Billing rules: The system settles fees at the top of every hour (Beijing time). Tiered pricing: Billing for the new specification restarts from Tier 1 of pay-as-you-go pricing. For specific billing prices, see Pricing Center. |
Yearly/Monthly Subscription

Configuration Upgrade |
Calculate price difference
| Billing calculates the difference between the remaining value of the new configuration and the remaining value of the original configuration, and deducts the corresponding amount from your account balance. |
| Subsequent renewal | After the configuration upgrade is successful, fees will be directly deducted based on the new, higher instance specifications in the next renewal cycle. |
Configuration Downgrade | Calculate refund | When the instance specifications are downgraded, the system calculates the refund based on the remaining value: Refund amount = Remaining value of the original configuration - Purchase value of the new configuration Remaining value of the original configuration = Valid order amount of the original configuration - Used value of the original configuration. Effective order amount of the original configuration: Refers to the actual payment amount of orders in effect, including discounts and vouchers. Used value of the original configuration: Full month completed: Fees are deducted based on the yearly/monthly subscription price and the corresponding official website discount. Partial month: Fees are deducted based on the tiered pay-as-you-go price for the used duration. Purchase value of the new configuration = Current official price of the new configuration × Remaining usage duration. Note: 1. The system calculates fees based on the currently effective discounts. 2. Used deduction vouchers or promo vouchers are not refundable. 3. The refund amount will be returned to your account in proportion to the original payment methods (cash and free credit). 4. If the calculated refund amount is less than or equal to 0, it is processed as 0, meaning no refund is provided. |
| Subsequent renewal | After the downgrade is successful, fees will be deducted based on the new, lower instance specifications in the next renewal cycle. |
Refund Example
On March 1, 2024, the user selected the standard architecture with 1-master-1-replica mode (2 nodes), per-node memory of 8 GB, and per-node pricing of USD 5.28/GB/month:
Yearly/monthly subscription monthly billing: 8 GB × USD 5.28/GB/month × 2 nodes = USD 84.48/month.
Discount description: With a 1-year purchase, you can enjoy a 17% discount for yearly subscription.
The total payment is: 84.48 × 12 × 0.83 = USD 841.06.
Scenario 1
On May 1, 2024, the memory capacity of an instance that has been used for 2 months needs to be downgraded to 4 GB.
Discount description: A 12% discount is available for monthly subscription durations of 6-11 months.
New configuration specification unit price: 4 GB × USD 5.28/GB/month × 2 nodes = USD 42.24/month.
Billing Calculation Formula:
Remaining value of the original configuration = Valid order amount of the original configuration - Used value of the original configuration = 841.06 - 84.48 × 2 = USD 672.10.
Purchase value of the new configuration = Current official price of the new configuration × Remaining usage duration = 42.24 × 10 × 0.88 = USD 371.71.
Instance downgrade refund amount = Remaining value of the original configuration - Purchase value of the new configuration = 672.10 - 371.71 = USD 300.39.
Scenario 2
On November 1, 2024, the memory capacity of an instance that has been used for 8 months needs to be downgraded to 4 GB.
Discount description: A 12% discount is available for monthly subscription durations of 6-11 months.
New configuration specification unit price: 4 GB × USD 5.28/GB/month × 2 nodes = USD 42.24/month.
Billing Calculation Formula:
Remaining value of the original configuration = Valid order amount of the original configuration - Used value of the original configuration = 841.06 - 84.48 × 8 × 0.88 = 841.06 - 594.74 = USD 246.32.
Purchase value of the new configuration = Current official price of the new configuration × Remaining usage duration = 42.24 × 4 = USD 168.96.
Instance downgrade refund amount = Remaining value of the original configuration - Purchase value of the new configuration = 246.32 - 168.96 = USD 77.36.
Scenario 3
On November 15, 2024, the memory capacity of an instance that has been used for 8 months and 15 days needs to be downgraded to 4 GB.
Discount description: A 12% discount is available for monthly subscription durations of 6-11 months.
New configuration specification unit price: 4 GB × USD 5.28/GB/month × 2 nodes = USD 42.24/month.
Original configuration specification hourly unit price: 0.011 (USD/GB/hour)
Billing Calculation Formula:
Remaining value of the original configuration = Valid order amount of the original configuration - Used value of the original configuration = 841.06 - 84.48 × 8 × 0.88 - 0.011 × 24 × 15 × 0.88 = 841.06 - 594.74 - 3.48 = USD 242.84.
Purchase value of the new configuration = Current official price of the new configuration × Remaining usage duration = 42.24 × 3 + 0.011 × 24 × 15 = 126.72 + 3.96 = USD 130.68.
Instance downgrade refund amount = Remaining value of the original configuration - Purchase value of the new configuration = 242.84 - 130.68 = USD 112.16.
