Product Definition

Tencent eSign is a global electronic signature service launched by Tencent Cloud. It provides enterprises and individuals with the capability to sign, manage, and preserve evidence for cross-border electronic envelopes online. The product supports three multi-level signing solutions: SES (Simple Electronic Signature), AES (Advanced Electronic Signature), and QES (Qualified Electronic Signature). By collaborating with authoritative CA institutions and utilizing blockchain evidence preservation technology, it adapts to the electronic signature legal frameworks of major countries and regions worldwide. This helps enterprises achieve compliant, efficient, and convenient electronic contracting in their cross-border operations.

Main Features

Tencent eSign provides the following main features, centered around the four core processes of signing, authentication, evidence preservation, and management:
Feature Module
Feature Description
Multi-level Signing Capability
Provides three tiers of signing solutions: SES (Simple Electronic Signature), AES (Advanced Electronic Signature), and QES (Qualified Electronic Signature). They can be flexibly selected based on business risk levels and target jurisdictions, covering a full range of scenarios from daily collaboration to high-value envelopes.
eKYC Intelligent Identity Verification
Integrates Tencent Cloud eKYC capabilities, supports the recognition of various types of identification documents including passports from multiple countries, Hong Kong (China) ID cards, and Chinese mainland resident ID cards, and completes identity verification by combining facial liveness detection.
Authoritative CA Digital Certificate
Partners with local and international authoritative CA institutions such as Trustasia CA, GlobalSign, and Hong Kong (China) CA to issue legally valid digital certificates to signatories, achieving credible signature identity and tamper-proof documents.
Multilingual Envelope Processing
Supports multi-language envelope templates and online signing for employees across multiple locations and overseas clients, avoiding the costs and long cycles associated with cross-border mailing of paper envelopes.
Data Security and Privacy Protection
Encrypts files during transmission and storage using the AES-256 encryption algorithm. Tenant data is strictly isolated, and core data centers can be deployed in nodes such as Singapore to meet cross-border data compliance requirements.
Full-process Evidence Chain Retention
Automatically generates identity verification logs, digital signature information, trusted timestamps, and audit logs during the signing process, forming a traceable, end-to-end evidence chain that supports cross-border envelopes dispute resolution.
Flexible Access Methods
Provides multiple access methods, including a Web console, email link signing, and API/SDK, facilitating enterprises in integrating e-signature capabilities into their own business systems.

Product Architecture and Working Principles

Tencent eSign is architecturally composed of four layers: the access layer, the business layer, the security and compliance layer, and the infrastructure layer. Its overall working principle is as follows:
1. Initiate Signing: The initiator uploads the envelope file and specifies the signers and signing positions via the console, API, or email link.
2. Identity Verification (eKYC): The participant completes identity verification through document recognition + facial liveness detection. The platform then invokes the trusted identity verification capabilities for the corresponding country/region.
3. Intent Confirmation and Signature Generation: Based on the selected signing level (SES/AES/QES), the system invokes the corresponding digital certificate issued by a CA and digitally signs the file Hash.
4. Encrypted Storage: The signed file is encrypted using AES-256 and then stored in a regional node that meets data residency requirements.
5. Evidence Chain Preservation: A full-process audit record is created from information such as operation logs, timestamps, digital certificates, and file hashes generated during the entire signing process. This facilitates post-event verification and judicial evidence presentation.
The overall process can be summarized as: "Initiation → Authentication → Signing → Encrypted Evidence Preservation → Auditability".
